Tallchief & Co Birth Collective was founded on a simple belief: families deserve to feel informed, respected, supported, and heard throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, regardless of race or socioeconomic status.

Founded by F. Dana Bear, an enrolled citizen of the Osage Nation, Tallchief & Co brings together community care, birth education, traditional knowledge, evidence-informed support, and advocacy. Dana is a full-spectrum doula, childbirth educator, Certified Indigenous Lactation Counselor, herbalist, artist, and lifelong community advocate whose work is deeply rooted in family, culture, and connection.

As a member of the Grayhorse District and Buffalo Bull Face Clan, Dana carries a lineage that informs a practice grounded in cultural continuity, community responsibility, and the understanding that caring for families is part of being in community.

Tallchief & Co Birth Collective was built with rural families and families of color at the center. We support clients who want to explore midwifery care, hospital birth, home birth, birth centers, traditional wellness practices, lactation, and other approaches that honor their individual values and choices. We help families understand their options, prepare for conversations with providers, advocate for themselves, and navigate the medical system with greater confidence. We also provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support for community-based doulas, helping build a stronger network of culturally responsive birth workers who are equipped to serve their own communities.

We believe informed consent matters. Cultural knowledge matters. Traditional practices matter. Evidence matters. And most importantly, your voice matters.

Tallchief & Co is an Oklahoma Medicaid and state-issued insurance provider, helping make quality doula support more accessible to the families and communities who need it.

Our work is about more than supporting individual births. It is about strengthening families, building community capacity, expanding access to culturally responsive care, and creating a future where every family has the knowledge and support to make informed decisions about their own care.
